Thanks to the success of the Switch, I've fallen in love with Nintendo again. I want to support them, so I purchased the (New) Nintendo 2DS XL. It plays all the same 3DS games, just without the 3D portion, which let's face it, was a bit of a gimmick. To make up for that, we get a cheaper game console which I'm more than happy about.
This is not meant to be a review or anything, but I should point out that there is really only one major flaw in the design and that is the screen. It is wobbly. Really wobbly. Like, "I don't know how this would be considered acceptable" wobbly. Apparently it's just how they are, so I'm not bothering to return mine. The clasping and screen angle notches are tight though.
Apart from that, the sound is a little different from the 3DS as the speakers are facing downwards. Not backwards, just oriented towards your belly instead of at your face so it sounds a little different. The stylus is also very short. It's a little odd at first, but considering how little I use it, I don't see it as much of a problem.
Definitely a step up from the regular 2DS which I will be on-selling now.
